Monksland Community Summer Camps

monksland-community-summer-campsThere are two Community Summer Camps ran in Monksland. This is joint initiative between the Monksland and District Foroige Leader and Volunteer, Monksland Residents Association and Roscommon Sports Partnership, F.A.I There was funding assistance from RAPID Additionality Fund, Dormant Accounts and the Monksland Family Support Service H.S.E.

The camps cater for all interests with variety of activities including art, crafts, dance, sport and games. There is also a visit from a local rugby and GAA club. The children are divided into groups according to their age. The activities provided an opportunity for the children not only to develop their own individual physical and emotional skills but also their social skills through group work.

A huge amount of credit must be given to all those leaders who volunteered for the week. There were also a number of older teenagers involved in being team leaders for the activities. The camps were truly successful beyond everyone expectations continuing to grow from strength to strength each year and will no doubt be repeated for many years to come.
